Volunteer Chaplains Unit
The Miramar Police Department’s Volunteer Chaplains Unit is a ministry of presence, established to provide aid and comfort to those in need and to provide a calm and thoughtful presence in high stress situations.
The Department’s Chaplains Unit is a volunteer unit formed to provide religious guidance, counseling, and assistance for officers, their families, and the community as requested. The volunteer chaplains come from the local community and are active in their local synagogues and churches. When acting as chaplains for the department, the volunteers serve in a non-denominational role. Therefore, they do not promote their religion to those they minister to.
The Miramar Police Department supports this program by providing the necessary training and materials to maintain its proficiency.

Due to the enormous responsibility and the sensitive confidential nature of the work, the selection process for membership and assignment to the Chaplaincy Corps is strict in concept and policy and reflects the highest professional standards. Membership in the Chaplaincy Corps program is limited to those professionals having five (5) years experience as an active minister in the denomination of their choice and currently consists of Catholic, Protestant and Jewish Clergy. |
We appreciate the chaplains who volunteer their time and effort to this department and the community. For further information on the Chaplaincy Corps, please contact Bill Robertson, (954) 602-4015.
