CITIZENS' POLICE ACADEMY

The Miramar Police Department’s Citizens' Police Academy is a series of classes designed to educate the public about police operations within the City of Miramar. Classes are taught in a classroom setting where citizens are provided with a better understanding of the day to day operations of the police department and receive valuable information on such topics as: crime prevention programs, DUI enforcement, and economic crimes. A Ride-Along program is also available to qualified participants allowing them to ride with an officer during a regular patrol shift.

How to Apply
Interested citizens must complete a "Citizens' Police Academy Application" and allow a Background Investigation to check for criminal history. You may fill out the application by
• downloading the application, or
• call (954) 602-4351 and ask to have the application mailed or faxed to you, or
• pick the form up at:

Miramar Public Safety Building
3064 North Commerce Parkway
Miramar, FL 33025

Class Size
The Citizens' Police Academy is currently restricted to no more than 30 participants. Applicants who have been denied admission are encouraged to reapply for the next class. Therefore, because space is limited, we ask that applications be submitted only by those individuals who can commit to attend most class sessions.

Academy Schedule
Classes are one evening a week 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM for fourteen weeks. A copy of the schedule will be mailed out once your application has been approved.
