NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM
Neighborhood Watch is the joining of forces by police and citizens to reduce and prevent crime in your neighborhood. Citizens become extra eyes and ears for the police department. Neighborhood Watch teaches members what suspicious activity is and how to report that activity when they see it, as well as how to describe suspicious persons and vehicles.

Neighborhood Watch programs are not just for crime ridden neighborhoods. Neighborhood Watch is an excellent tool to help prevent crime from getting a start. Law Enforcement can't do it alone. Being involved in Neighborhood Watch will reduce existing crime and prevent future crime. It will also make law enforcement more effective and efficient, which creates a win-win situation for everyone. Neighborhood Watch is free and requires a minimal amount of time commitment by its members.

CONFERENCE OF POLICE CHAPLAINS
The Florida Region International Conference of Police Chaplains Training was recently held at the West District Station. Over 70 Police Chaplains attended the seminar from all over the state of Florida. The Miramar Police Department’s Volunteer Chaplains Unit is a ministry of presence, established to provide aid and comfort to those in need and to provide a calm and thoughtful presence in high stress situations.

MIRAMAR'S PUBLIC SAFETY NIGHT OUT
Communities throughout Miramar join forces with Miramar’s Police and Fire Departments for Public Safety Night. Fire-safety, crime and drug prevention, neighborhood unity, and support for community policing and anti-crime programs are encouraged.

GRAND OPENING PHOTOS / West District Station
The City of Miramar opened the Miramar Police Department’s West District Station, located at 2811 Southwest 186 Avenue June 20, 2006. The state-of-the-art facility hosts the Training Unit of the Miramar Police Department. The West District Station is located next to the Sunset Lakes Community Center and Fire Station 100, which will provide easier access and better police services to our residents. It provides office space for the Patrol, Traffic and School Resource Officers who work west of Flamingo Road; while the front desk is manned by dedicated volunteers from the community.
