Town
Center houses a mass transit facility known as ‘Central Station’ that is
currently served by two Broward County mass-transit routes (Route 5 and 28), as
well as the Miramar Community Shuttle.
Additional Broward County routes are planned in the future and
eventually one Miami-Dade County mass-transit route is expected to connect.
Central Station includes covered waiting
areas, driver relief areas, a customer service booth, bike racks and
showers/restrooms. City Hall and the Cultural Center-Arts Park are
approximately 300 feet from this facility.
Funding
The City prepared a Transit/Pedestrian Mobility Plan and
actively pursued Federal Transit Administration (FTA) construction
reimbursement funds that were protected by Letters of No Prejudice. In total, Miramar
recouped over $2.39 million from the FTA. Additionally, the Florida Department
of Transportation (FDOT) awarded $615,000 in grants towards the project.
